Souls scream tales of self-induced pain in her head
Empty tooth marks in her bread
Across the table sit ignorant parents who still don't know
Not a single swallowed bite from the dough
Hungry is an adjective insufficient to describe
The starvation dancing in her stomach like an ancient, jolly tribe
Fingers reaching for her plate,
A tired mind worrying about her weight
Fingers retract with the most powerful of wills,
Clenched together until the trembling stills
A shell of a girl runs to the toilet bowl
Weeks of no food taking it's toll
Nothing comes up
Yet the world's upside down
A shell of a girl, lying on the floor
The starvation finally reaching her core
