I sighed, tucking the letter back into the envelope. There was nothing written on the envelope that would reveal who was writing to me. All that was there was my name in beautiful calligraphy. I slipped the envelope carefully into the front compartment of my backpack before putting my bag in my locker. I grabbed my books for English and headed off.

I was a full half an hour early for class but I liked to sit and read before classes. Mr. J didn't mind that I was there every morning. Instead, he bought me a muffin every morning that he left sitting on my desk. Sometimes we would have conversations but otherwise, we were both quiet.

"Morning, Mr. J." I hummed, sitting down

"Morning Jesy. Get another letter?" Mr. J asked, looking up from his desk

"I did." I answered, finding my place in the book

"Still don't know who it is?" Mr. J questioned

"No clue." I groaned

Mr. J just laughed, knowing how frustrated I'd get over the fact that I didn't have any clue on who was writing to me. We were silent from that point forward. I was in my own little world and therefore, I didn't hear the bell that signalled the beginning of class. It wasn't until the door banged against the wall that I looked up. I doggy eared my page before sliding it to the side of my desk.

My eyebrows crinkled in confusion as Atticus stood at the front of the room. I couldn't remember him ever being in this class before. But, Atticus wasn't one to show up to most of his classes anyways.

"Nice of you to finally show up to class, Mr. Brower." Mr. J scoffed

"I'm sure." Atticus muttered, eyes searching the room

I kept my head down and prayed that he'd stay far away from me. But, much to my misfortune, Atticus took a seat right next to me. Now the only thing to do is ignore him and hope that he leaves me alone.

"He always this grouchy?" Atticus whispered, leaning over to me

"Shut up." I snapped

"Feisty." Atticus smirked before backing away

I huffed, shooting Mr. J a helpless look. I was hoping that he'd force Atticus to move but nothing happened. I gave up on thinking that somehow he'd move and began writing down the notes. I could survive one period.

Turns out, surviving one period with Atticus was harder than originally thought. He continued to make quiet comments to me and did anything but focus on what was being said. I couldn't be happier when the bell rang and I could leave. I have a study hall right after English so it was good for doing homework that I hadn't done the night before or talking with Leah.

I signed into the library before heading to the table at the back of the room. Not many people came to the library besides Leah and I so we were typically alone. It was nice to have an entire room to ourselves sometimes. I laughed as Leah came stumbling to our table. She could be a mess at times.

"Did you get one?" Leah asked

Biting my lip, I nodded slightly. The whole thing was a big deal for our little friend group which was currently only missing one since he was off in Nevada visiting his girlfriend. Nothing like this would ever have been thought to happen to one of us. We were pretty low key and stayed away from the popular crowds.

"What was it about?" Leah squealed

"My smile and how he wants it to be him who I smile fondly at." I replied shyly

"His letters are always adorable! I can't wait to figure out who it is." Leah sighed, dreamily

"You sound as if you're the one getting the letters." I giggled

Leah waved her hand at me in dismissal. I shook my head, wishing that I had grabbed the letter from my locker before coming here. Sometimes, I'd read them over again just because of how sweet they are.

"Any leads on who it is?" Leah enquired

I scoffed at the question. Of course there were no leads. The mystery man left nothing for me to go on. He made sure that he remained hidden from me. He's said in previous letters that he was too nervous to tell me who he was. He was afraid that I'd just walk away from him if I knew. I highly doubted that I could ever do that to him no matter who he was.

"We'll find him." Leah assured

"When he wants to be found, yeah." I agreed

I jumped, hearing someone slap their hands against the table. I looked up to see Atticus and groaned slightly. What was he doing here?

"Who are we talking about?" Atticus asked

"Nobody of your concern." I spat

"It is now." Atticus deduced

"You'll never know, Atticus." I retorted, standing up to leave

"I wouldn't say never, darling." Atticus smirked

I rolled my eyes, pushing by him and letting my shoulder bump with his. I could hear Leah scramble to follow in my footsteps since she'd never be left alone with Atticus. Leah was too fragile for someone as rough as him.

We were silent as we made our walk to my locker. Leah had already grabbed her books for the next two periods but I had been too lazy to do so after English. I was starting to get irritated with Atticus showing up at random. First English and then the library. I have to admit, it was a huge shock to see him in the library. I didn't even think that he knew it existed in the first place. I switched out books just in time for the bell to ring. I waved goodbye to Leah before heading for Spanish.
