you were so focused on the future
you forgot to focus on
the now.
and then you let all those smiles
all those happy embraces
slip right through
your fingers.
and you're left with the memories
the ones that taste so sweet
ones you know you'll never have the
privilege of reliving.
and now you're here
choking on the reality that
time is life's most precious commodity.
and you'll never be thirteen again
and there's only so much
childish bliss left in your days.
please grab ahold of it.
hug it tightly.
realize every moment is one you'll never
have again.
don't make my same mistakes.
appreciate your now.
