This is the first poem that I have written in years, so bear with me. This was a fast write, and it is written exactly as it popped into my head. It's quite a short one too.

~Fading Life~
when the light fades away
and the darkness engulfs
sadness tears its way through your heart
breaking, tearing, ripping it all apart
dark thoughts run through your mind
chasing away the light
happiness, love, courage and strength
locked away in a cage
despair, sadness, anger and hate
running rampant through your mind
reliving each bad moment –
seeing and feeling it ten times worse
tears falling and heart breaking
earth shattering and hopes fading
dreams crushed and future disappearing
all kind thoughts, just fading away...
