He has lost all hope and misplaced all concern
At the crossroads he doesnt know where to turn
The fire that burned within has now long gone
He's left with nothing but for the hurt to dawn.

Despair tugs at him persistently and he relents,
Up till a point where he finds he's lost all sense
But the feeling of hopelessness has taken over now
To break out of this trance, he must know how.

When people speak of him, they do so with respect,
He was the next big thing as far as they could recollect
What he could have been and what he's been made into
All those happenings they wish they could undo.

He is strong but he's never known this life to be fair,
To a God he always believed in he offers a prayer
All that he had faith in crumbled right in front of him
But then he had always known how life could be so grim.

They tell him he has lost it, he must pack his bags
They tell him the feeling of slow death always drags
So for the first time he listens to the voices inside his head
Hellos turn to goodbyes, and his heart is filled with dread

He has lived for these days, thrived for these nights
One last chance to don those treasured whites
All he had fought for now seems so trivial
He shudders to think that he's now down to null.

That feeling of discontent will never be washed away
The hurt is remaining even now and the scars still stay
He is wounded but he is struggling to cry
They have killed his soul and his willingness to try.

It's been long, eight hard summers in all,
Little by little, he has built up this wall
But now it is shaky and perhaps there is a crack
Alas! This may be his last chance to turn back.

They won't know this now, but a good man will be lost
Who would have put mind over matter at any cost
They will lose the best, he's a keeper who's clever
They have to call him back, or he will be lost forever.
