The power of a Smile

There was a girl,

who lived without smiles.

There was no sun,

To break apart the clouds.

There was no rain,

to water her flower.

There was no warmth,

to thaw her cold toes.

She walked the streets,

sad and alone.

She passed by a stranger,

who was heading home.

Who, you may ask,

could that stranger be?

Well, I can tell you,

that stranger was me.

I saw her walk by,

I saw how she frowned,

I thought, I could,

turn that frown upside down.

So I gave her a smile,

and she watched with surprise,

she thought who is this stranger,

who looks me in the eyes,

and smiles?

Slowly, but surely,

I looked on as she,

gave me a smile,

that lit up the street!

Suddenly,

I was the sun,

that broke up her clouds!

I was the rain,

that watered her flower!

I was the warmth,

that thawed her cold toes.

I like to think,

that smile changed her perspective,

she became a little nicer,

and a bit less objective.

So when you walk,

and you're heading home,

give people smiles,

and change a life of your own.
