requested by bambiwritesbooks:
write a poem about a sunflower turning into a human
There was more on the end because it was a joke (we are friends in real life) but I liked this part so... here we go;
I open my eyes
my eyelashes like vibrant yellow petals
around dark eyes
like a moon-less night sky that longs for its lover,
la luna.
I find myself in a state of mind
different from feeling like a lone sunflower
in a field that mirrors
a hand sewn quilt made by a grandmother for her grandchild
that they hug on a cold and rainy day
imagining the aroma of welcome-home-ness
inhaled when they entered her house
after months of pushing up on their toes in enthusiasm
waiting for that isolated day.
I remember what it was like to be
a lone sunflower,
it felt lonely but I was happy
standing alone
reaching my hopeful face up to the sun
blinded by her beauty
