the transition

FLASHBACK: "Hey sis," your brother says as he playfully teases your hair

"oi, Jesse you can do that at home, not at work," you say a little annoyed

you proceed to get up and do the same but you are stopped by the signal bell

"truck 118, ambulance 34, squad 1, warehouse fire, Westmont drive,"

"we will continue this later," you say

Seven minutes later the team has made it to the warehouse fire

"there is somebody trapped on the second floor," one of the victims who got out says as she approaches the team

"(Y/N), Jesse you two come with me, everyone else on stand by," your captain demands

Two minutes later and the three of you have reached the victim. He is trapped underneath one of the wooden pillars

"I'm going to see if I can shift the pillar," your brother says as he moves towards the victim

Thirty seconds later Jesse has freed the victim

"are you able to move on your own?" you call out to the victim

"I think so," the man replies

He tries to get up but he is stopped by the floor shifting underneath him

"Captain we need to get out now," you frantically call out

The floor collapses and your brother falls through

"Jesse, do you copy?" You say over the radio

"(Y/N) we need to go," your captain says as he helps the victim who had managed to move out of the way

"no Cap I'm not going until I know my brother is fine" you reply

"(Y/N) he's right," your brother radio's in he is weak

"I'm sorry Jesse," you reply over the radio

two months later and it is your first day at firehouse 51. you are on a tour of the building lead by Matthew Casey both of you stop at the locker room

"here is your locker," he says while writing your last name on a piece of masking tape

"thanks," you say as you stick the tape on a vacant locker.

"so (Y\N) why did you transfer to Chicago anyway?" he asks trying to start a conversation

"It's not something I like to talk about," you say honestly An automated signal sounds

"fire truck 81, ambulance 61, squad 3 plane crash on fourth street" the voice announces as the people get ready

the trucks and ambulance arrive to find a group of people surrounding a crumpled plane on top of a car. They leave the trucks

" Otis move the bystanders back," Casey demands

"(Y/N), Severide make sure the plane is secure," 

"we should get the victim out of the car first I smell Jet fuel," you say

"she's right," Herrmann confirms 

"ok then get the victim in the car out first," Casey says changing his order

twenty minutes later and the victims have been rescued and the clean up has finished. Everyone is back at the firehouse.

"(Y/N) good job on your first rescue," Matt says completing you

"Thanks Matt," you reply
