"Thy soul shall find itself alone

'Mid dark thoughts of the grey tomb-stone;

Not one, of all the crowd, to pry

Into thine hour of secrecy.

Be silent in that solitude,

Which is not loneliness- for then

The spirits of the dead, who stood

In life before thee, are again

In death around thee, and their will

Shall overshadow thee; be still.

The night, though clear, shall frown,

And the stars shall not look down

From their high thrones in the Heaven

With light like hope to mortals given,

But their red orbs, without beam,

To thy weariness shall seem

As a burning and a fever

Which would cling to thee for ever.

Now are thoughts thou shalt not banish,

Now are visions ne'er to vanish;

From thy spirit shall they pass

No more, like dew-drop from the grass.

The breeze, the breath of God, is still,

And the mist upon the hill

Shadowy, shadowy, yet unbroken,

Is a symbol and a token.

How it hangs upon the trees,

A mystery of mysteries!"

"Can anyone interpret this wonderful piece of work by Edgar Allan Poe?" Mrs Smith's voice snapped out of my own world of the spirits.

"Yes, Gretchen, would you like to explain this?" I turned around to see the brunette I had noticed staring at me from the history class, stand up.

"Well,this is basically Mr. Poe talking about how spirits that still exist on this earth, bound to the earth can't leave this place, he says how these spirits have incomplete tasks that's yet left to be completed but all they seek for is comfort but they feel tormented and will never find joy and they'll be mocked by the nature always." The brunette let that out in one go.

I couldn't help but feel the air around me getting cooler and my subconscious trying to take me away to the obvious place which matched the exact mood of the poem.

"Thank you Gretchen, I'd like to elaborate on what Edgar Allan Poe has meant through these lines." Mrs. Smith smiled.

Is it really torturous for a spirit to exist on earth after death? Why is that? Does Harold have feel the painful existence on this land when he belonged to the other?

I was in a daze when I was seated in my Drama class. Thinking of what could've been Harold's incomplete business that had him still exist on this earth.

"Are you the new girl from Alice Villa?" a short blonde haired girl asked me, tapping on my shoulder.

"Yes, why?" I smiled in confusion.

"I've read a lot about that pala- mansion! I wanted to visit it, but it was a private property and we were not allowed to go anywhere close to it." she explained excitedly.
