I dug around a bit (more like "it's almost midnight and I need to get something out for ya'll before then") and found something that will be a good mini lesson for you:

Sketching out the body before doing any details. Trust me, it'll help a lot. It'll be easier to get more dynamic poses and it won't be so stiff.
