"Shawn, are you ready to go on?"

He put on a fake smile and nodded to the question. Y/n smiled as well, "you'll do great babe. You always do." She gave his cheek a quick kiss before exiting his dressing room.

Truthfully, he was terrified. He was terrified to go out in front of those people. He was afraid he might do or say something idiotic. He's not sure why but this interview is making him scared to death.

"You can do this. Pull yourself together."

His hands began to tremble but he quickly grabbed the water bottle on the counter and took a big gulp. Hoping the water would help with the trembling of his hands.

"Please don't do this now." Shawn whined, running his hands through his hair stressfully. His heart beating out of his chest and the air in his lungs felt like air in a zipped up bag.

He needed y/n. He need her in his arms for him to be able to calm down. But, he couldn't. He doesn't want to disappoint her.

"Shawn you're on in a minute." Andrew opened the door making him jump from the unexpected warning. His manager raised his eyebrows at him, "are you alright?"

Shawn swallowed the lump in his throat and nodded before smiling. "Y-Yeah. Just butterflies."

Andrew chuckled before motioning Shawn to follow him, "Let's go, they'll be gone when you get on."

He quickly nodded his head and his muscles tightened at the thought of being in front of people he doesn't even know.

Shawn followed Andrew to the side of the stage until they called his name. He froze and his teeth began to grit together. "You're on kid, you'll do a great job."

His feet slowly moved into the spotlight as he kept his eyes glued onto his girlfriend that sat on the sofa.

Once he sat down, he gave a small smile at the host then looked out at the audience.

A lump formed in his throat again as he saw how much people were seated and watching him. He reached over and grabbed y/n's hand, squeezing tightly as his leg bounced up and down. He was on the verge of tears.

"Shawn Mendes! It's very nice to actually get to meet you in person! How are you?"

Shawn licked his lips and opened his mouth but nothing came out. Everyone laughed except y/n. There was a worried expression on her face. She has never seen him like this and knew what was happening.

She gave his hand a reassuring squeeze and his cheeks got red from the laughs. He forced out a chuckle and uncomfortably shifted on the sofa.

"I-I'm good." His voice cracks at the end but quickly covers it with a cough.

"That's good." The host smiled at him and Shawn quickly gave one back.

Throughout the whole interview, he tried his hardest not to cry or to embarrass himself again. His eyes kept glancing at the clock that was placed above the audience, trying his hardest not to make eye contact with anyone.

"It was very nice for you two to join us today! I hope we get to meet again in the future!"

Shawn quickly stood up, pulling Y/n along with him as he shook the host hand. "Thank you for having me, I have to get going. Early flight."

"Shaw-"

He pulled y/n's hand aggressively backstage as he ignored Andrew and lead both of them into his dressing room. Once they got in, she closed the door and watched as he sat on the chair.

"Shawn what happened out there? Are you okay?" She asked.

"No Y/n, I'm not fucking okay. It's just.." A sob escaped Shawn's lips as tears began to spill out of his eyes.

"Shawn, what's wrong." Y/n quickly rushed towards his side, making him look at her. She noticed how his breathing became heavier which she rubbed his back to try and soothe him.

"I w-was just, so scared y/n." He let out another sob and placed his head onto her shoulder.

She placed her free hand against his cheek gently and rubbed small circles with the pad of her thumb. She sighed as he began to cry harder, leaving tear stains on her shoulder.

After he began to calm down, she ran her fingers through his hair.

"Shawn, how long has this been going on?" She quietly asked.

They both sat there in silence for a little longer before he replied. "Three years." He mumbled.

"Why didn't you tell me Shawn? I could have helped you."

"I know, I just thought that it was only a one time thing. But then it got so bad that I was afraid to perform in front of my fans. And you know how much I love to perform for them."

Shawn sighed and wrapped his arms around
y/n's waist.

"I'm sorry for not telling you." He whispered before closing his eyes.

"It's okay babe. Let's just rest for a while and we will talk about this later, okay?"

Shawn nodded slowly, feeling his eyes getting heavy.

"Thank you babygirl."
