STEVEN GRANT ROGERS volunteered , in service of his country during World War II , for a series of injections which would turn him into the perfect soldier at peak of human capability .

he was to be the first of many . however , DR . ABRAHAM ERSKINE , creator of the super - soldier - serum , was assassinated before further developments could be made .

not one to steer away from a fight , rogers found himself overseas soon enough . his first mission as CAPTAIN AMERICA was saving the 107th division of the U . S . army .

from this division came the HOWLING COMMANDOES , his team for the duration of the war .

the captain's main foe , JOHANN SHMIDT a . k . a THE RED SKULL , leader of the nazi organization , HYDRA , was in possession of a powerful cosmic object referred to as the TESSERACT .

in order to stop hydra's assault on the eastern seaboard of the United States , captain rogers sacrificed himself .

miraculously , seventy years later , the captain's downed aircraft was found in the icy waters of the
atlantic .

re - habilitating , steve joined a new team , THE AVENGERS , which was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable people, so when the world needed them, they could fight the battles that we never could.

and save the world they did , on several occasions .

however , the team disbanded five years later in an event referred to as CIVIL WAR , which was a dispute over the SOKOVIA ACCORDS . IRON MAN lead the charge for the accords , while CAPTAIN AMERICA was in opposition of them .

now , despite their differences , the avengers will have to assemble again , to take on a threat unlike any they have previously faced  . THANOS and his quest to collect and wield THE INFINITY STONES .
