Ichigo's Successor-A Bleach Fanfic

Ch. 3: Welcome to Squad 12

All of the captains sat in the hall waiting for their Head captain to speak. The Head captain sighed and said, "So the boy... he has quite a few amazing combat skills. Not being even close to a Lieutenant's level, he defeat Renji Abarai. I think it's time to make a decision. Captain Kuchiki, I believe he should be a member of your squad?" The said captain of squad 12 just nodded, going along with the Head Captain's decision, although not very happy about it himself. Ichigo led Son inside once the Head Captain had called them into the hall. Once indoors, the Head Captain told Son that he was now a true and official member of squad 12, the best squad for fighters like himself, and that his new captain was Captain Kuchiki. "Hey Bayakuya, take it easy on him will ya?" Ichigo asked Captain Kuchiki in a mocking tone. "If he wants to move up in our ranks, he'll do any training I make him do, and any mission. My squad is not for those who are not strong willed. If he can't handel my squad then he should forget about becoming a Soul Reaper." Ichigo just looked at Byakuya in surpise. Son looked at his new captain and said something which shocked everyone, "I want to be the new captain of squad 12 and be better than you." The captain looked at him and smirked. "What a foolish ambishion," he said, "you actually think you will become better than me? We shall see how well you do tomorrow in training then." Son just nodded, ready to face training.

 It was an early brisk morning in the Soul Society and Son was walking towards the squad 12 barracks. He ran into Ichigo who wished him good luck with his first day of training. When he arrived at the squad 12 barracks, all of the squad members were already training. Captain Kuchiki approched Son and said, "Get started. Your training will start today with a ten mile run. If you slow down besides a jog, you will have to restart. Do you understand?" Son looked up at the Captain, knowing that he wanted to crush his dream of becoming the next Captain of squad 12. "I can handle that no problem Captain!" Son said with confidence. Captain Kuchiki then laid a huge backpack on the ground and said, "This bag weighs two tons. You shall run while carrying this." "Yes sir.", Son readily replied.

Son picked up the backpack and put it on, and off he went. He started to run in a brisk jog, not wanting to lose all of his stamina at one time. He was just now getting used to his soul form and his new soul reaper power. Nonetheless, he knew that if he wanted to achieve his dream, he would have to go through all the training to show his captain that he could do it. Son trailed on as he got a little bit faster jumping over cracks in the path, and sliding under low walls. He was slowly running out of breath though, and he had only ran three of the ten miles. Son did some deep breaths while running trying to last longer, he was about to give up when Ichigo appeared and started to run beside him. "Come on you can do this! Your a Soul Reaper, all of the soul reapers run longer than this every day. There's a secert to his method. He told you not to slow down right?" "Yeah... that's right." "Well then," Ichigo said, " Flash Step. You'll be going the same speed while regaining your breath to continue running. He never said you couldn't Flash Step, and I saw you do it when you were fighting Renji." Ichigo said smirking. Son looked down at the ground as it moved under his feet. "I'm not really sure how to Flash Step, I don't even remember fighting Renji!" Ichigo looked at Son and smiled. "Well just do what I do. What you need to do is imagaine your spirtual energy in a different place that is close to you then just go to it." Son nodded and tried. Next thing he knew he had flsh stepped to a place half a mile from where he was then he did it again and again. After doing it for three miles he continued to run again. He finally reached the end where Captain Kuchiki was waiting on him. "I see you passed. Next, you are going to spar with the others, then we will have a twenty minute lunch break. No more, no less time than that. Then you shall run another ten mile run, but this time with four tons. You will study battle tatics after that. Once you have completed all those tasks, head to bed. I don't mind if you get no sleep either, so get them done quickly and efficiantly." Son nodded and went to do what he was told.

Later that night, he was exhausted from his first day of training. He was very pleased though, for he survived it, unlike what his captain thought he would do. Son heard a knock on his door and went to it. Opening it up he saw Ichigo there and smiled. "So, how was your first day?" Ichigo asked. "Well it was diffcult," said Son, "But I managed to get through it." "I can tell, since your standing here haha. Anyway, how about we go get some food, my treat." Ichigo said with a smile. "That would be wonderful, I'm starving!" exclaimed Son. Him and Ichigo walked to one of the soul soicety's ramen shops and bought some meso ramen then they went to a mask shop where Son had Ichigo buy him a mask of a wolf. He put it on and growled and snared just like a real wolf making Ichigo laugh. "You know, sometimes I forget that your still just a kid." Said Ichigo. "You act like your my age ya know, someone with a dream." "Don't you have a dream Ichigo?" Asked Son. "I do." said Ichigo, "And that dream is to make sure all the spirits in the world didn't have to fear the halllows, and that dream is slowly coming true." Son looked at Ichigo in admiration but then heard a roar in the distance. "That's a hallow!" Exclaimed Ichigo. "So Son are you ready to kill your first hallow?" Son nodded, and they were off.

Ichigo and Son arrived to where the hallow was and pulled out their zanpaktos. "Gensuga Tenshio!" Yelled Ichigo sending the wave of blue energy at the hallow making it scream in pain. Son moved around the hallow slashing it's body and growled. "I don't know what i'm doing Ichigo I never done this before." "You need to ask your zanpakto its name," Ichigo said, "with it you can use it's Sheikai form." "I don't know how!" Son said as Ichigo continues to kill the hallow. "Don't worry you'll figure it out. It took me a while too." Ichigo said as he killed the hallow. They went back to Son's room, and Ichigo said to him to 'try and ask his zanpakto its name'. Son later on that night laid there looking at his zanpakto and said, "What's your name..."
