Chapter 5

Richard's POV

To many questions in my mind but non of those will be answered if I just sit here and stares at her. Pero paano ko gagawin yun nang hind manginginig ang tuhod ko at hindi uurong ang dila ko. I'm afraid I'll run out of words once I get to be with her closer than earlier.

I'll just wait for their clients to lessen before ako pumunta nakakahiya namang maistorbo ko. On the otherhand, I am happy that her business is doing good. Masipag naman talaga si Nicomaine, kahit nung si Dei rin sya.

"Richard, nakatawag ka na ba kay Nanay Cita?" Kuya Ethan asked

"Oo kuya, sa Thursday daw ng umaga nandito na sila" I replied

"Sila? Kasama si Tatay Emilio?" Kuya suprisely asked

"Oo kuya nabanggit ko kasi na yung opisina ni Dei nandyan lang sa harap ng restaurant natin. Naexcite yata kaya napa-oo si Tatay Emilio" I explained

"That's good. Eh yung invitation nila Daisy at Nicomaine naibigay mo na ba?" – Kuya Ethan

"Not yet, nandito pa sa akin" I replied

"What? Kelan mo balak ibigay yan? Sa Sabado?" – Kuya Ethan

"Well pwede naman at least naibigay ko yung invitation. Balak ko nga wag na lang silang imbitahin eh" I said

"What? Seryoso ba yan Richard?" Kuya asked and I just laugh at him

"Susme, syempre hindi Kuya. Don't worry, hinihintay ko lang humupa yung mga tao sa store nila. Nakakahiya kasi kung makakaistorbo ako" I explained

"You better be sure brother, because if not, the pull out of my investment in this branch as well as the Salcedo branch" Kuya threatens me

"Chill Kuya, I promise gagawin ko ngayon ang pinapagawa mo. Nakakahiya ang talagang istorbohin sila sa trabaho nila" I explained again

"By the way, sasabay pala ako kila Nanay Cita pagbalik nila ng Maniwaya, may kailangan akong asikasuhing papers from Gasan Hospital, mga three days akong mawawala. Charlie is like Tristan anyway, maaasahan mo yan" – Kuya Ethan

"Thank you Kuya, ngayon naiintindihan ko na" I said

"Ako ang hindi nakakaintindi, seems like that thank you has a different meaning" – Kuya Ethan

I smiled at him to show how appreciative I am to his effort for this branch. "Thank you for insisting to build branch no 2 in this place. Nagkataon lang ba ito o sinadya mo?" I asked

"Importante pa bang malaman mo kung sinadya ba o nagkataon? Ang mahalaga lang naman, abot kamay mo na ulit si Dei" Kuya gladly said "And you're welcome bro" he added

"Don't worry kuya, I will make sure that your efforts will not go to waste. Mahirap maging complacent, baka mapagod yung tinatawag mong tadhana at kunin ulit sa akin si Dei tapos hindi na ibalik" I said

Nicomaine's POV

May nagawan ba ako ng matinding kasalanan? Did I offend anyone? Did I treat my employees unruly? Was there a time that I was unfair to them?

I don't remember doing any of that, pero bakit parang bad karma naman ang meron sa akin ngayon? My mind is already set na bukas ko na lang aabalahin ang sarili ko sa hindi ko maiiwasang presensya ni Chef Richard, bakit hindi man lang muna pinatapos ang araw na ito para makatulog man lang kahit sampung minute.

"Naistorbo ba kita?" Chef Richard asked me again which makes me goes back to my senses

"Oh ... No chef ... of course not Chef ... nagliligpit na nga ako Chef. Pasara na nga kami Chef" I said

"I know that I am a chef, you don't have to remind me in your every phrase" – Chef Richard

"I'm sorry Chef Richard" I said and he chuckles. "Have a seat" I said and pointed him to sit on my guest chair and he gratefully does

"So wala ka na bang sumpong Chef? If you are here to ask kung kamusta na ako, I guest I am fine, hindi naman ako nilagnat, hindi na rin masyadong sumasakit yung hips ko. So, maybe tama ka, you don't need to bring me to the hospital" I rants

"Our restaurant will open on Friday, pero blessing muna sa umaga, we will be serving breakfast after the blessing. Here is your invitation. I already gave Daisy hers. I hope you could come" – Chef Richard

Napahiya ako, naramdaman kong napahiya ako. Pwede bang magtago sa ilalim ng lamesa ko? Napakaassumera ko kasi, ito tuloy ang napapala ko. Bakit ba kasi, ako nag-assume? Nakakainis. I was not able to do anything else but to take the invitation card. I quickly opened it to somewhat hide my awkwardness.

"Kakamustahin rin naman kita talaga, kaya lang medyo na-excite kang ibalita sa akin yung status mo ngayon. I am glad that you are alright now. But if you still feel different you may call me, may mga cases kasi na hinsi agad nagma-manifest agad, somthime after a day pa, my number is on the invitation for RSVP. Hindi naman ako nagpalit ng number, kami ni Kuya, hindi kami nagpalit ng number" He said and I just remained staring at him

"Pareho pala tayo, hindi rin ako nagpalit ng number, I am using the same number na ibinigay sa akin ni Doc Ethan, infact, I am still using the phone that he gave me" I said

"I hope makarating ka. I'm pretty sure Nanay Cita and Tatay Emilio will be happy to see you again. Makikita na ulit nila yung anak-anakan nila" –Chef Richard

My heart jumps for joy upon hearing the names of the couple who have been very dear to me.

"Sige, I'll ask Daisy if our schedule is free on Friday. Text na lang kita" I said

"Alright, I really hope you and Daisy could come" – Chef Richard

"Mag-usap muna kami ni Daisy" I replied

"No problem, just let me know. I'll go ahead mukhang sobra na kita naistorbo" – Chef Richard

He walks to my door to leave. Hindi talaga nakikinig ang lalaking ito eh, sinabi ko na nga kanila na closing na kami so hindi sya nakakaistorbo kaya pwede akong makipagkwentuhan sa kanya kahit hanggang bukas ng umaga.

"Ok" is my brief reply to him

"By the way" He said and turned to me again after his few steps

"Yes Chef" I excitedly replied

"You don't have to confirm your attendance, I just reserve a seat for you and Daisy. But if you still want to send me that text confirmation that's also fine with me. If you say that you are still using your old number then I would know that the message is from you. I have not deleted your number, it still comfortably sits in my phone list" he said then leaves my room.

Eh ako chef, do I comfortably sits in your heart still?
