An Amphiptere (also called Amphithere, Amphitere, or Phipthere) is a type of winged serpent found in European heraldry. They were generally said to have greenish-yellow feathers, a serpentine body similiar to a lindworm, bat-like green wings with feathered bones, and an arrow-tipped tail, much like a wyvern's. Sometimes their color can change depending on where they live. Others are described as entirely covered in feathers with a spiked tail, bird-like wings, and a beak-like snout. Even more uncommon are some with legs. Their snake-like body ranges from 15 to 45 feet long, the end of the tails are more oval shaped and have skin that comes off of it for directional control, these are an more aquatic dragon so they use the wings as flipper to move through the water, their main source of food are fish and other sea animals.
