i am saying my goodbyes
two days in advance.
i am telling friends
that with hope
we'll speak again.

i am praying to God
for the sake of myself,
and brothers and sisters
who remain hidden for safety.

our bridges are burning for us,
incinerating in front of our eyes.

so maybe we won't speak again
but just know that love is a thing
that stretches past screens,
and that memories of us
are trinket boxed in my heart
just waiting to be opened again.

- to my closeted brothers and sisters

A/N: hey everyone its Sel here.
For those of you who live in the USA vicinity, you may have heard of net neutrality being repealed.
It is a violation of our basic American freedoms and the first amendment.

For closeted kids like me, the Internet is all we have left in some aspects. Our family may not support us but safe places like Wattpad and Kik and Instagram are our only sense of solace. If the FCC goes through with the net neutrality repeal, LGBT kids will lose those lifelines of support, and will leave them in a much darker place than they already are in.

Please take the time to text "RESIST" to 50409 to E-Write your local politicians and let them know of your opposal of net neutrality.

If you don't know what to write, follow this template.

"My name is _____and I'm a citizen of _______. I am concerned and alarmed by the FCC's desire to end net neutrality. I support a free and open internet and I hope that as my representative you will do the same."

Thank you. It means a lot to me.

- Sel
