hey there!
ever since i finished clarity, i've regretted some of the choices i made with it. the biggest one being the fact that it isn't a boyxboy fanfiction. i remember that when i was writing the last book in the series, i began to realize how canon it is that newt is gay, and how much easier it would have been to write a male oc. however, clarity was getting so much positive feedback at the time that i really didn't want to scrap the story just then.
but then, james dashner FINALLY admitted it. newt is gay, always has been and always will be. YAY!
i know so many people really enjoy this series, so i knew i didn't want to just take it down for good, but i also knew that i was very uncomfortable with the idea of leaving it up for people (most likely straight women) to continue to read. which is why i made the decision to re-write clarity as a boyxboy!
to my new readers,
hi! i'm so glad you're here. if you have no idea who lucy is and are just here for some good ol' boyxboy with newt, get excited!! also, completely disregard anything that was commented on my chapters before 2021. all of those comments are from the original book, which was obviously a newt x fem! oc, so they probably won't make sense to you since i've changed so much about the series.
and to previous readers of clarity,
if you read the original series with lucy i highly encourage you to read this story as well! it isn't going to be just a copy-paste of lucy's story. as i went through the first few chapters, i realized how awful some of my writing was back then, so i've made a lot of changes. going off of that point, sam is his own person. he isn't just a carbon copy of lucy, hence why his name isn't just luca or luke. and so far, he's been really fun to write and i think you guys will love him. as well as this, you'll get a chance to revisit the stories and characters like leo, clark and carter from a whole new perspective.
ALSO, i realize the last book in the trilogy, remedy, won't be re-released for a while but i have already planned an alternate ending for samson. so if you read lucy's version of remedy...expect the unexpected for samson ;)
i'm very excited for this new chapter, and i hope you all read on.
