Selfishness

I tried to make something out of you

     Hoped you would satiate my longing

Cultivated a little poet

     Whose growth was stunted

Not that I downplay your worth

You've given me a share of your earth

But do you realise you invest next to nothing

While I make sure I satisfy your being

Ask me again what is wrong

     Expect I'll never take you home

And do I regret what I have lost?

     No, you entertained this heart of permafrost
