Martha Alexander | 4.09.2015

Martha rests her head on Mark's chest, silently listening to the rise and fall of his chest, the lub-dub of his heart.

Her heart is beating at the same pace as his. They don't want to let go, as both of them are comfortable in each other's embrace.

Evie had left just after the quarrel began. Expectedly, she isn't in sight. Nobody is in sight. The hallway is deserted.

Mark Brooke | 4.09.2015

Mark quickly wipes a tear. He always has tears in his eyes when he is angry.

"Mark, I like you, too." She says while looking at her shoes, as they head towards the green field.

His heart swells with happiness. He smiles.

"But..."

His smile drops.

"But, I can't be in a relationship."

"Why not?" Mark questions, as he sits down. She doesn't. He stands up.

"My marks will drop. My mom will take me out of school."

"But, Martha..."

"Please, Mark..." She leaves, leaving an empty Mark, behind.
