You step outside
And your feet slide
On slick ice
Your hair flies everywhere
The winter air
Bites your cheeks and nose
Your body lands on the cold ground
Knocking the breath out of you
As your breathing grew
Rapid
You sit up, feeling your ears
get cold
You feel like crying
But no one hears
So you get up
Toughen up
And embrace the cold
Because it's the only thing that will hold
You tightly
And give you reason to wish for warmth
