I remember the day clearly.
The day life took you from me.
It was cold, probably someday in November.
I had decided to finally tell you how I felt, to finally confess my feelings.
We were going to met at the park, which was a strange choice considering the weather.
I arrived early, or maybe you were late. I don't remember.
I stood there, waiting at the entrance and watching the cars drive by down the road.
And then I spotted you.
You were wearing a dark red sweater, which complimented your dark hair. I watched as you pressed the pedestrian walking button, and the light turned green.
You started to walk, the red light clearly telling the cars to stop.
But one didn't listen.
Maybe he was late to an interview or date.
Or maybe he was just not paying attention.
I watched as a dark blue car drove right into you, sending you flying through the air.
Everything seemed to stop, as I watched you fall to the ground. People gathered around you, screaming and yelling for someone to dial nine one one.
I was the one to do it.
With a shaky voice I explained to the operator that my friend had been hit by a car.
And that he wasn't breathing.
They quickly arrived to the scene, only to pronounce you dead on sight. They loaded you into the ambulance, and that was the last time I ever saw you.
I remembered you telling me that you weren't very close with your family.
This only became more evident when I had to explain to them that you were dead.
I'm not going to lie, they cried. Everyone was sad, a young life taken to soon.
They decided to get you cremated, and then spread your ashes somewhere.
I never stayed to find out where.
I left the next morning with nothing but what I had originally came with.
And I never looked back.
