Sha'kini's POV
It has been exactly one week after the biggest storm we have had in months. It didn't stop raining for 2 days. Although it caused floods and trees to fall, it had positive outcomes too. Our rivers are full again, our crops got much needed water, and the land has been refreshed. Looking up from my leaf bed, I can see the sunlight through the canopy of our home tree. "Where is she?! Where is that useless woman!" I look to my right on alert, looking straight into the eyes of my soon-to-be mate, Chu'kuri. I get up and walk towards him and kneel once I am in front of him. "I am sorry Chu'kuri, I overslept because I was very tired due to lastnight's event." He stayed quiet for a long time, I would've never looked up if I knew what was going to happen.
Smack! Smack!
I fell to my right side holding onto my stinging cheeks, not letting my tears slide down my face. "Do you think I care about that? If I say get up at a certain time, whether you are tired or not, you get up." He grabs onto my hair and drags me all the way to the backyard. He throws me against some containers we use to bring and store water from the river in. "By the time I get back from the Clans meeting I better see all 7 containers full of water. And if they aren't-" he grabs my hair and makes me look into his eyes "you better be ready for the consequences." He roughly lets go of my hair and walks away. I look around making sure no one saw what just happened, I like staying to myself and not depending on anybody. If someone knew, then it would mean I have to open up to whoever it is. I get up and grab one container and make my way to the river.
