Am I Okay??

The Baby At Home

           

He stays at home
and is skinny to the bone
he stays in his bed
and isn't even fed

His mother stays asleep
and doesn't hear a peep
he cries in his room
in a little baby costume

He is still crying
but his mother isn't trying
he is in need of food
but isn't even viewed

rejected by his own mother
now he's set to suffer
father comes home
the house - a cyclone

Father screams at the mess
and makes a great guess
mother was knocked out all day
father is mad, says all that he wants to say

Baby crying in his cot
mother trying to rid the smell of pot
father cooking to get the baby fed
brother trying to get this out of his head

The little baby finally ate
he was happy but the house filled with hate
Mother left the place
gone without a trace

now she lives far from the baby
and maybe, just maybe
he will see her again
In many years, perhaps ten

one day back came mother
she wanted big brother
she stole him from school
she was such a fool

kidnapped him with her friend
the charmer who's met his end
he now stays in a prison
and father was on a mission

to bring back brother
from the evil mother
using brother as a money pot
she didn't love him a lot

father fought for brother
mother was a bother
she gave him back
and then we lost track

mother was gone again
and wouldn't take the blame
she handed it to father
all to protect her charmer

who found her cheating
so he gave a beating
back to prison he went
"oh sorry, it was an accident"

now baby and brother
live without mother
she is gone
they've all moved on

tears are shed
while lying in bed
remembering what happened
the days their lives blackened

it started with the baby at home
and feeling neglected, alone
not even a letter on birthdays
they've all seen better days

at home, now no neglection
away from mother, no connection
they now feel love
unlike before there wasn't enough
