Read to write
This is one mistake that some of us make. We just write without reading. For me, I think you have to read in order to write. In order to write great stories anyway.
Some might argue that they write without reading books, but then how would you know whether the story you are writing has been written a thousand times over or not.
Reading gives you the experience needed to write. And no, I'm not referring to Wattpad books alone. They shouldn't be a standard that we set for our own books. Yes there are lots of great books on Wattpad, but then, there are millions of bad books there.
Read everything that you can lay your hands on. Read novels, articles, biographies, excerpts of books, everything!
Everything that we write has already been written in the past, the only difference is how we tell our own stories. Reading gives you the ability to express your ideas with an originality that is solely yours.
So start reading!
