Lazy Sunday

Lara sighed as she bundled a blanket around her shoulders, lying her head down on your lap. You smiled and ran your hand through her hair, which for once, was down. Lara smiled back and looked up at you, grateful that she could ultimately spend time with you.

"I'm glad you're back Lara. I really missed you."

Lara nodded in agreement.

"I'm just glad to be home. I don't how much longer I could go without seeing you again."

Lara had been on an expedition that had endured for over two months. During which, you prayed for her everyday, hoping she was safe, and that she'd return promptly.

She had originally been sent to the hospital for a few weeks to recover, where she was treated for her wounds. It was a painful recovery, but you were right beside her during every moment of the day, every single week. You'd lie down and wait for her to fall asleep, then you'd fall asleep with your head resting in your crossed arms, holding Lara's hand tightly.

But now she was back home with you.

Lara sat up and pecked your cheek, huddling against your side as you rubbed her arm. She smiled and interlocked fingers with you as she held your hand.

"You know, you didn't have to stay with me in the hospital Y/N. I would've been fine."

You smirked and hugged her tightly.

"I know, but I couldn't help it. Even though I can't share your pain, I wanted to try and help you ignore the pain."

"Well, you certainly did. You'd talk to me and keep me company, and that really did help me forget about it. It may not make sense, but you were like my medicine. You helped me kill the pain and let me relax."

You smiled and rested your chin on her shoulder as she held you close to her.

"I love you Y/N."

"I love you too Lara. With all of my heart."

You could sense Lara smile against your skin, a small sigh of relief escaping her lips. You shifted back, and cupped her face tenderly, seizing her attention.

Pressing your forehead against hers, you let out a shaky sigh and closed your eyes.

"Please don't ever leave me like that again Lara...."

Lara smiled and kissed your forehead calmly, grasping your hands and clasping them together in hers.

"I promise I won't. And even though you won't be very safe, you can come with me from now on."

You beamed cheerfully and nodded, pressing your lips against hers with more meaning than ever before.

You were actually kind of staggered at Lara. She'd always said that it was way too threatening, and in no way, would she ever risk the chance of getting you hurt. But yet, she just broke her own rule for herself.

But you were joyous of that.

You felt Lara pin you down and lie on your chest, snapping you out of your thoughts. You smiled and massaged her back soothingly, leaving a few butterfly kisses against her head.

After a few minutes, Lara looked up at you with a warm smile.

"So what do you want to do for today?"

You smiled back and pecked her forehead, stroking her hair momentarily.

"How about we just relax for today? If you want, I could give you a massage."

She smiled again and hugged you as she sat you up with her, propping her head up against your chest. You hugged her back and buried your face in her shoulder.

"That sounds nice Y/N. Thank you."

And for the rest of the day, you and Lara basically just hang out, talk, cuddle, you give her a massage, etc.
