Evolution or Creation? Only one can be True

Part 1

     Evolution is true or Creation is true. Which one is it? And why does it matter? It matters because the one that is true determines the answers to life's most burning questions. So will you accompany me (My brother says that "accompany me" sounds way to boring, so in his words "ARE YOU COMING OR NOT! LET'S GO BRO!!) on this journey through the facts, information, and evidence to find the answer?

So what are the burning questions of life? Two questions people often wonder about are, "Who am I?'' and "Why am I here?" Let's see how evolution and creation answer. According to Voddie Baucham Jr., Evolution says to the question, Who am I? "You are an accident. You are a mistake. You are a glorified ape. You are the result of random evolutionary process. That's it. No rhyme. No reason. No purpose. This is the pathetic reality when evolution runs its full course. If the idea is carried to its logical conclusion, human beings have no value. You are ultimately nothing." That doesn't sound very optimistic does it? If you are really nothing what is the point of living? Why are you even here? Evolutions answer to the question Why am I here? According to Voddie is, "You are here to consume and enjoy. That's the only thing that matters. When the famous philanthropist John D. Rockefeller was asked, "How much money is enough?" he was as honest as any man has ever been. He responded, "Just a little bit more." Consume and enjoy--that's why you're here." Just to consume and enjoy? When you think about it, that's really depressing, maybe that's why so many people are depressed, they have nothing to live for.

Let's see now how the Bible, the first book to explain creation, answers these questions. Let's ask Voddie again, Who am I? "You cannot figure out who you are until you first discover who Jesus Christ is. Jesus "is the image of the invisible God....by him all things were created...all things were created through him and for him" (Colossians 1:15-16(ESV)). He is the exact representation of God. He is the picture of God in human flesh. He is God on this earth. He is God with us, God among us. The Bible says that I am created by God--in his image and likeness (Genesis 1:26(ESV)). Not the result of random processes. The Bible says that whether I am tall and beautiful or small and not so handsome, whether my body functions perfectly or is severely deformed, I am the crowning glory of the creation of God, and as a result I have inherent dignity, worth, and value." Wow, you are a creation of God! You have dignity, worth, and value! You are not a mistake! Let's see the answer to the next question, Why am I here? Voddie says, ""All things were created through him and for him...that in everything he might be preeminent" (Colossians 1:16b, 18(ESV)). The ultimate purpose of all things is to bring glory and honour to Jesus Christ. That's why I exist. That is why you exist. And because of this, contrary to the view of our culture, the reason for my existence goes far beyond consumption and enjoyment."1. So you have a greater purpose beyond just to consume and enjoy. You might think that it would be more fun just to consume and enjoy, simply just do what you want, but you will soon realize that if your ultimate purpose is living just to please yourself, that life is empty. Now that we know Evolution and Creation's answers to these questions, do you want to know which one is true? Let's look at the evidence.

Before we get into the evidence for and against Evolution and Creation let's just clear up one thing. You want to know the truth right? But what exactly do you mean by truth? A lot of people these days say that truth is relative, that what is true for one person might not be true for another. But does that really make sense? Imagine if 2+2 = 4 for one person, but equaled 9 for another. Imagine how much confusion that would create! What if they try to build, for example a sailboat, it would be so disproportionate, when they try to sail it, it would sink, and they would be left scratching their heads, wondering what went wrong. Reality shows us that in a world where 2+2 = 4 and 2+2 = 9 are both considered to be true, reality would soon prove otherwise, so also Creation and Evolution cannot both be true. One is true and one is not. It's that simple. We just have to find out which one is the real McCoy, the real deal.
