Sora woke with a start, banging his head on the shelf above his bed.

"Ow!" He gingerly rubbed his forehead.

Through the window of his room in Master Yen Sid's tower, he could see the hints of dawn poking at the horizon. Other than that, it was still dark.

"Well, I'm never going to get back to sleep now," he complained to the empty room, struggling out of bed and beginning to dress.

"Why did I even wake up like that?" He asked himself as he combed his hair into it's signature spikes. "Ugh!"

He clutched his head as a wave of pain passed through it, making him drop the comb. Images flashes through his mind. The mysterious keyblade, the strange girl with the gloved hands. And words.

The Key to Return Hearts...?

"Sora?" He heard the door open and shut as his best friend, Riku, entered the room. "Why are you up so early? And what's with all the noise?" He noticed the brunette doubling over in pain. "Hey, are you okay?"

Sora nodded, straightening up. "I'm.. fine. Just a headache."

"Hm," Riku said, not convinced.

"So what are you doing up so early?"

"Master Yen Sid and I were talking."

"Really?" Sora sat on his bed and bounced up and down in anticipation. "What about?"

Riku hesitated. "Well, we were talking about what Xehanort mentioned about the seven wielders of light. And if he already has one of them captive."

"He was probably bluffing," said his friend confidently.

"I dunno. He doesn't really seem like the type."

"I'm sure you weren't just talking about what happened during the Mark of Mastery exam," prompted Sora. "Did you figure out anything else about where the other three keyblade welders might be?"

"We don't know where Ventus's heart is, or where exactly in the realm of darkness Master Aqua is, and we have no idea what happened to Terra."

"But you and the King are going out to find Master Aqua, right?"

Riku nodded. "Today, actually. But to wake Ventus, even when we find his heart, we'll have to find something to make sure he gets it back without any complications."

Sora propped his elbows on his knees and held up his chin with one hand. "And what would that 'something' be?"

"Master Yen Sid mentioned a 'Key to Return Hearts." Riku took in the flicker of recognition on his friend's face. "Heard of it?"

Sora scratched his cheek. "Kinda. Is it a keyblade or something?"

"It could be a keyblade, or an object, or even a person."

"Master Yen Sid doesn't know anything? There's nothing in his books?"

"Well, I didn't say that," Riku leaned back on the door. "There was a small mentioning of a 'new' Key in one old book. It seems it changes every 75 years."

"That doesn't say much."

"Nope."

"This conversation is making my head hurt," Sora complained, rising and folding his hands behind his head. "I'm gonna go take a walk back home. Wanna come with?"

The older boy smiled. "Sure, why not?"
