When Chloe and I seperate, I could feel that we are not sharing this moment privately.
Across the parking lot I catch a glimpse of a slightly confused, but shy Warren. His cheeks are a vibrant red and as soon as my eyes lock with his he quickly turns his sight to something else.
"Afraid your boyfriend is going to break up with you?" Chloe says, smirking devilishly.
"He's not my boyfriend." I say, with a little more annoyance than I intended. "We're just friends, I don't think Warren will break our friendship over this. I mean, he's a teenage boy who just saw two girls kiss, nothing new for him."
"Fair point. Still, it's impossible to ignore the fact that he's totally crushing on you."
Even though I am flattered by the fact that Warren sees me as a romantic interest, I don't see myself and him becoming more as just friends. Don't get me wrong I honestly enjoy his company, he's a very sweet and funny guy, but whenever we are hanging together I never feel a romantic spark. I can see that he's really trying and maybe it is time that I tell him that I only want his friendship, especially since Chloe and I have swapped saliva just now and he saw.
"I know, but I'm going to tell him I just want to stay friends with him."
"Poor Warren, landed in yet another friendzone." Chloe says shaking her head.
She leans forward onto her steering wheel and sighs. I quickly wave at Warren and put up 5 fingers to let him know I'll be right with him. He sticks up his thumb and sits down on the steps promptly.
"You know I'd never think I'd say this but... I honestly miss school. My suspension has been lifted by Wells, but I never had a reason to go back. Since Rachel left I didn't want to be reminded of her, so I avoided school as much as possible. Knowing that your hippy ass is here now kind of makes me want to go again, just to prove those dicks that I am smarter than I come across."
"Chloe, you are definitely the smartest person I have ever met. No one even came close to your genius mind in Seattle. I really missed that."
"Thanks Max. I'll contact Wells and...." Our conversation is abruptly interupted by the school bell.
"Fuck, I have to go." I shoot her a sorrowful look, I didn't want our conversation to end like this. "See you after school?" I ask.
"Sure, I'll pick you up. Go, kick some ass Super Max" Chloe gives me a quick kiss on the cheek.

As I walk towards Warren I can still feel the heat in my cheeks from Chloe's lips briefly smooching against my face. I wish that it had lasted longer, but at the same time I am curious if our next kiss will follow soon. Maybe we should take it slow, I don't want to rush into this without having clearly thought about it. I could ask Kate out for one of our infamous tea sessions and then get her opinion on the matter.

Warren shakes his head when he sees me and then quickly puts up a smile that was clearly hiding a hurt emotions. "So... you and Chloe huh. I would have never guessed." He puts his arm behind his head awkwardly.
"It's not a big deal." I calmly answer while strolling, over the grass, towards the school entrance. "Warren, can we have a serious talk about this tonight... I don't have a clue what this 'thing' that Chloe and I have is yet." He stares at me confused, but I also a detect a hint of relief.

Ofcourse, if I don't know what Chloe and I are yet, he has some extra time to try and woe me off my feet. However, how hard he may try I think I have fallen pretty hard already for Chloe. Either way, I am going to tell him tonight that maybe he should divert his interests from me and put them in some other great girl: like Stella maybe. I don't want him to end our friendship. I genuinely enjoy the time we spent together, but I could do without feeling that he might kiss me every time a silence falls. If his soul interest has always been to make me his girlfriend and nothing else than I would be kind of hurt. I guess that is why I feel so comfortable around Chloe, no matter what, our friendship has always had a very strong foundation. Even if we don't work romantically I am pretty sure we will stay friends, I am happy to have that certainty. With Warren though, I'm not so certain if he would stay my friend when he discovers that his romantic actions have failed. I hope he does, but if not than he was never a friend.

"I am glad that you trust me, but I'm not stupid Max. I can see that you and Chloe have more than just a "thing"" He drastically uses the quotation marks, but he is also smiling. I can see he is not bothered that I am falling for Chloe and this lifts a weight of my shoulders that I didn't know was there. "We could have a serious talk about this tonight or we could just enjoy a movie and let the universe do what it does. No hard feelings."
Warren seems truthful, he looks a little disappointed but he's also making clear that whatever happens we are still friends. I release a sigh of relief and take Warren into an embrace right before we enter the school building.
"Thank you." I say as I release him. He smiles and opens the door for me. "Seriously, we're not 12, love and sex are things we should be comfortable speaking about. I'm going to run to class or else miss Grant will scold my ass in front of everyone."
"Yeah I should haul ass to Jeffersons as well, I'll see you tonight."
We wave each other goodbye, wish each other good luck and rush to our classes, which we are both 5 minutes late for. Knowing my classmates Victoria probably hasn't even seated herself yet and everyone will still be babbling at the top of their lungs. Always trying to be louder than the rest.

My knowledge hasn't failed me, as I enter class Jefferson is not even here yet, and both Victoria and Nathan have parked their privileged asses on my desk.
"Hipster alert" Victoria whispers to Nathan, but it was just loud enough for me to hear. She does this on purpose, always trying to antagonize me. I simply walk past them and seat myself next to Kate. Both of them keep staring at me, but I won't give them the satisfaction of turning around and looking back.
"Don't let them get to you Max, you're better than them." Kate says. She's wearing a buttoned up white blouse, with light blue flowers on it, and her signature golden cross necklace that she wears every day.

Kate is a very religious girl but progressive too. If every religious person would be as kind hearted and pure as Kate than I would support it all the way, but sadly people like Kate are very rare in those communities.
She's always ready to listen and makes me feel safe whenever I'm with her. I know that even in the most dire of situations Kate will be standing by my side, giving me advice and a shoulder to cry on.
"Today I won't let anything get to me." Kate raises an eyebrow.
"You seem exceptionally happy, what happened?"
"Nothing special. Let's just say that I have been discovering a new side of me."
Kate now seems to be fully concentrated on my story, she's resting her head on her hands and stares at me with curiosity.
"Good Morning class! If all of you would be so kind to seat yourselfs it would be highly appreciated." Jefferson announces while entering the class and taking out his notes from his shoulder bag.
I move to my own desk and start unpacking my bag.
