Chapter 11

We all rode over to my old apartment in

Cameron’s car; I had to sit as far away from Taylor as possible. He reeked. I told him his cologne smelled bad (it really didn’t, but I couldn’t tell him that) so naturally he used about half the bottle, and now no one wanted to be near him.

As we pulled into a parking spot and got out of the car I told Taylor, “At least now I don’t have to worry about other girls coming on to you; I don’t think anyone will come close to you even with a 10 foot pole and a nose plug.”

As we walked up the stairs he came up and put his arm around me and pulled my face into his chest. I thought I was going to suffocate or throw up. “Well, it doesn’t matter about them; you’re the only person that has to be near me tonight.” I groaned. I started to pull away from him, but he only held onto me tighter, “Now Haley, remember were supposed to be in love tonight so if people see you gagging, it might give them the wrong idea…”

I wanted to punch him in the face so badly.

When we reached the door Hayes turned and looked at us, “So cute!” he said as he snapped a picture on his phone. I’m sure it looked great; me holding my breath and Taylor… being Taylor. “Now you guys have to wait out here for a minute, so you can make you’re grand entrance!”

“Yeah,” Nash said, “I’ll text you when it’s time for you two to come in!” They all went into the apartment, leaving Taylor and I alone in the hallway.

I could hear loud music and chatter from the other side of the door; this was going to be a fun night.

I threw Taylor’s arm off of me and pushed him away. He smiled, and I was filled with the urge to shove something very sharp and pointy down his throat.

We stood there in awkward silence for a minute, and then an awful thought popped into my head. “Oh my God, are we going to have to kiss?!”

Taylor just looked at me, “Haley, you sound like a 12 year old girl.”

“Well, sorry! But the thought of kissing you…” I pretend to gag.

“Please. I’m a great kisser, far better than they pretty boy boyfriend you had.”

I laughed, “I highly doubt it.”

“Oh yeah?” And then the most unexpected thing happened, he grabbed the back of my head and pulled me in for a kiss.

And DAMN, he was better than Josh. It was short and to the point, and before I knew what was happening he pulled away.

I started blushing; I really didn’t know what had just happened. I couldn’t let him know it was suddenly world war 3 with all my emotions, so I simply just shrugged. “Pretty boy was better.”

He looked at me skeptically, he knew I was lying.

It was weird, I had just had the best kiss of my life (no matter how short it was), and it was with a guy I hated. Things were turning out a lot differently in my life that I would or could have ever imagined.

My phone finally buzzed with a message from Nash saying it was time to go in.

I looked over at Taylor, “Ready to be completely and utterly in love, hubby?”

He put his arm and around my shoulder and pulled me in, “I don’t think there’s really a choice, wifey.” Then he opened the door and we walked in.

All eyes were on us as we made our “grand entrance”, everyone started cheering and clapping. Cam stood up on a chair and held up a beer, “For the first time ever, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Caniff! Cheers!” They all cheered and took a sip of whatever they had in their hands.

As I was standing there in front of everyone it really hit me. I was Mrs. Caniff. I was married. I looked up at Taylor, “I need a drink.”

“Ditto.”

As we maneuvered our way through the crowd towards the kitchen everyone was congratulating and hugging us, course I got a lot of glares from jealous girls too. That was a new one, no one had ever really been jealous of me. I didn’t even want to check facebook or twitter to see all the hate I was bound to get.

“Thank God,” I said as we finally reached the bar. “Do you even know anyone these people?”

“Nope,” he said as he reached over the counter and grabbed two beers. He started to hand me on, but then took it back. “Now Haley, I know you have a problem holding you’re drinks,”

“Do not!” He put his finger against my lips to shush me. It was strange, because his lips were there only moments ago.

“ANYWAYS, so be careful tonight. I wouldn’t want you to seduce me and then we wind up with a Taylor Jr. in this weird family of ours.”

I rolled my eyes and grabbed the beer out of his hand. Douche.

Then Taylor got this really weird look on his face as he looked over my head, almost pained. Then there was a tap on my shoulder, and I turned around to see Josh.

FUCK.
