Y/N hadn't been sleeping well lately, and Hawkeye was beginning to notice.
"Y/N, are you okay?" Hawkeye asked.
She yawned before she answered.
"I'm fine, Hawk," she answered, but she sounded tired.
"Look, uh, Y/N, it's like 1030 hours. We've been up for a little while. Shouldn't you be awake by now?" The surgeon was puzzled. Had he missed something?
"Hawk, uh, there's something I should tell you," Y/N said, but before she could tell him, she heard Radar yell "CHOPPERS!" followed by the trademark whir of the helicopter blades. She sighed and waved off what she was going to say.
"Forget it," she said, breaking into a slow jog that turned into an increasing run to assess the wounded and then to scrub up.
~In The OR~
"Y/N, assist," Hawk said in a business-like voice. This wasn't normal for him, but Y/N nodded with an emotionless "Yes Doctor."
"Now, do you wanna tell me what's wrong?" Hawk asked while Potter, BJ, and Winchester were feverishly doing surgery on these kids, and Klinger was bringing the new patients in fast.
"I, um," she started to say, but then she felt her eyes brim with tears, and she knew if she opened her mouth again, she would start crying right there in the OR.
She simply shook her head, took a deep breath, and called for a towel.
Father Mulcahy came over with a towel and mopped the part of her face not covered by the surgical mask.
"Is something wrong, Y/N?" The priest asked quietly, and she shook her head.
"No, Father, I just had an eyelash in my eye, but it's all good now. Thank you," she smiled at him.
"Tell me later?" Hawkeye asked after witnessing their interaction, and Y/N nodded. Lucky for her, she had that following shift in Post-Op, so she had an excuse to post-pone telling Hawkeye.
~After The Last Patient In The OR~
"Y/N! Y/N! Wait up!" Hawkeye caught up with Y/N, who had just changed into her uniform and was checking in with all the patients before filling out paperwork. The paperwork never seemed to end for the nurses.
"I can't, Pierce, I've got a shift in post-op. Maybe later," she called out.
Hawkeye sighed before turning and heading toward the Swamp. He noticed that she'd called him 'Pierce' this time instead of 'Hawkeye' or 'Hawk.' She really meant business. Too bad BJ was the doctor on shift and not him. Maybe he could get some information out of her?
