It's been awhile since I last updated this but I'm salty again.
Okay, so this time I'm not ranting about a shipping, but moreso just one character, like my Kokichi rant. And I would like to add that I'm not faulting people who played the localized version of Danganronpa V3, because it most likely just implies that they aren't fluent in Japanese, and neither am I, so I wouldn't ever place the blame solely on them.
But hot damn, NIS America fucked up big time on this game.
First of all, they changed a bunch of character's names for the sake of easier pronunciation (I assume) among the English audience. Here are some of the mistranslated names.
Rantarou Amami to Rantaro Amami
Shuuichi Saihara to Shuichi Saihara
Kiibo to Keebo/K1-b0
Kokichi Ouma to Kokichi Oma
But this rant is mainly on Kiibo, so let's focus on that. The very first thing I have brought up that NIS America fucked up? Kiibo's name. But they really fucked it up. Kiibo's name was translated into K1-b0 (mostly for the sake of lols I believe, or because they are a robot) but this is already out of character. Kiibo is a character that tries really hard to be human... so why the fuck would they want a robotic name like K1-b0? I feel like ruining their character solely for the sake of a homestuck joke is absolutely despicable.
Also, in the game, everyone refers to Kiibo as "Kiibo-san." The honorific they use for Kiibo is almost entirely gender neutral. My friend explained that the only other scenario in which this honorific is used is when you're talking to a "mature woman," as he phrased it. Since Kiibo is the same age as everyone else, I'm assuming this honorific is entirely gender neutral.
Kiibo even expresses in Chapter 2 that they don't really feel like a boy or a girl. In canon. You know, like a nonbinary person possibly. Like someone who isn't really male or female. Hm.
Despite all of this, NISA decided to translate Kiibo's pronouns to he and him.

and the only other use for their honorific is with women...
Anyways fuck NISA lives, Kiibo is nonbinary/agender we love an nb icon.
