The early 90s were an awkward time, when those of us in high school could only communicate via phone – and of course it would be the landline. We didn't have our own private cell phones back then. No private talks late at night or the satisfaction of instant messaging; if you wanted to talk to a friend or loved one it would be done on one of those chunky phones with the curly wire, right smack in the middle of the kitchen or living room where your siblings and parents would slyly eavesdrop. You know the ones. Unless you were born in the era of wireless technology.
Sometimes I wish I had been a high school student during this time.
I'm a lot older now, decades have passed since I graduated from high school, but my senior year is so vivid as if it only happened yesterday. It was the year I truly discovered who I was and who I was meant to be. It was also the year I fell in love with the love of my life, but more on that later. For now, my name is Taehyung and all you need to know right now is that my entire life changed in the spring of '95.
