That is a good question. The shoe probably fell off because she was sweating, or it maybe she tripped and fell down the stairs. And the story didn't decide to tell it because it wasn't, 'fairy tale like.' It also may have not fallen off, but the story didn't have an idea how the prince was gonna find her so they thought, 'why not.' That is my reasoning of why her shoe fell off.
