CH 11 – The Seagulls are Back!

My hands fiddled with the handle as I opened the entrance door. Hannah had already gone up to her office, leaving me on my own. Luckily, Minty was in her usual work, typing onto her keyboard behind the front desk. She noticed me pass by and waved, I waved back as a response. It has been almost 3 months since I first got here, can’t you believe that?

Well... time flies when you’re occupied.

I got used to hanging around Yogtowers; it was much different than my previous life. On the first day at the office, I’d usually do my own interests like playing on my iPad in Minecraft or drawing. I’d usually get the greetings to anyone who passes by the common room or if it’s lunch when everyone is normally chatting with the others. I was always silent all the time, just waving hello or talking quietly. It was actually enjoying just doing my own thing than getting bugged about every so minute. However, the reason this happened was I was doing my own art project: a drawing of my Yogscast family in my own style. No one in the office saw it yet, I always hid it behind the shelves after each day commenced. The size of the paper was large like a canvas, so obvious to see.

“Hey Ellie!” I stopped on my tracks to listen. “Lewis says he wants to see you. I don’t know why but he said to tell you to come to his office when you get the message.” I thanked her and raced up the stairs to the correct floor. All of the red alarms were on, except Lewis’. I walked to the common room to check my project was still in the same place I left it before. The only thing that was different was that the recording equipment was set up amongst an area of the room. They must be going to record another Yognews. However, just when I peeked through the gap of the shelf I had placed my artwork: it wasn’t there.

“No, no no no no no!” I muttered to myself as I looked around the common room. I piled through the shelves, behind every Yogscast object but no avail. My head was sweating with panic, worried if anyone had it. Suddenly, I took a glimpse of Trott passing through the hallway: maybe he knows. Running towards him, I shouted his name to make him notice me; gladly he did.

He turned around to face me with a concern plastered on him. “Hey Ellie, what’s up.” I took a massive sigh and carried on to speak.

“Have you seen an A1 piece of paper lying around in the common room?” The walrus paused to think before he gave an answer.

“No, not really.” I frowned. “But, I did see Lewis carrying this massive piece of paper on him. Was it yours by any chance?” Widening my eyes, I rushed to Lewis’ office, but of course thanking Trott. So that’s why he wanted me! I tried not being too worried or too hyper, so I let myself calm down before I knocked on his door. Questions were over flooding in my mind as I waited for his notice. When we had made eye contact, I let myself in.

It was like going through another world, one moment I’m panicked; next moment I’m solid like ice. Lewis was standing there, looking quite gobsmacked and speechless.

But why?

Why was he speechless?

Did I do something wrong?

“No. You did the total f***ing opposite!” Lewis shouted back as a reply, literally making me mentally facepalm myself.

I chuckled: “Note to self: don’t say your thoughts out loud.” Stopping I looked back at Lewis, who was holding a piece of A1 paper in his hands... which was mine. He was studying it carefully, looking through all the details I put into every person I drew: my first ‘fanart’ I drew.
