Chapter Nine

Because of Niall and his Irish ways he had been drinking, so I drove us back to his place. After we got there, I had to help him walk to the door, so that he wouldn’t fall over. Once in the house the giggles got worse and he couldn’t stop smiling. With his phone in hand he started to cheer as loud as possible and the sound echoed throughout the house.

“Zayn! Zayn! I did it! After six years I finally did it! He shoots, he scores! Fuck yeah!” Niall exclaimed while spinning in a circle, arms in the air.

“Woah, woah lad. Calm down. What is it?” I said while reaching out and holding onto his shoulders.

"Skylar and I are going on a date tomorrow. BOOM! Beat that!" Niall said with a few thrusts and some odd dance moves that should never be repeated. Ever.

"That’s great Niall, but we should probably get you to bed. You’ll need your energy for tomorrow." I replied while turning him to face the stairs.

I must admit, I was pretty surprised that he finally asked Skylar out. Niall was far too shy to ever ask anyone on a date but I guess drunk Niall wasn’t afraid of anything.

I was in an unfamiliar club somewhere downtown. I sat in the back, 150£ worth the drinks sat in front of me and one after another I swallowed them down. The familiar burn of the smooth liquid going down my throat reassured me once again that I didn’t need too concentrate on life for at least the rest of the night.

As I opened my eyes after downing the last drink, although my surroundings were unclear, I saw her. She stood at the bar, nonchalantly taking drags from her beer. ‘A woman who drank beer, fascinating…’ I thought to myself. Suddenly I found myself beside her, asking the bartender for the exact drink. This was a flawless plan that I’m positive I came up with on my own; it worked every time. You just buy the same drink as your target, then she turns to look at you, and depending on the girl, she’s already trying to get in your pants.

When I finally met her eyes I could see the surprise in her eyes, causing me to smirk. I obviously don’t have to introduce myself this time. “Are you here with your friends?”

She began to laugh and before replying she took a drink, “Yeah, my friends Alex and Sky."

Shit. Alex. Getting her away from her boyfriend could be a setback. Not that I haven’t accomplished that before, but it usually takes more sneaking and a hell of a lot of alcohol.

She began to laugh, she must’ve saw the look of concentration on my face. “Alex is short for Alexa. I’m single.”

"Oh, well then, I’m Zayn.” I said with a cheeky grin.

"Of course I know who you are. Everyone does, I'm Sydney." she replied with a smirk.

My smile grew wider. This was going to be simpler then I thought. I took her by the hand and guided her through the crowd that surrounded the VIP section of the club. Before we crossed the rope, I turned back to look at her. She looked amazed by her surroundings, the people, the lights, the sounds.

Once we reached the large booth the boys were seated at the looks on their faces were hilarious. All of the boys’ jaws had dropped and their eyes were wide. With a smirk I offered for her to sit down first, beside Niall. She looked nervous and was blushing furiously, but Niall smiled at her and scooted over so she slid in next to him.

"Don’t worry ‘bout Nialler, he’s harmless.” I whispered in her ear, causing her to shiver.

"Aren’t you going to introduce us to your new friend?" Harry said from the other table, while smiling at Sydney.

"I’m Louis, Louis Tomlinson, excuse my dear friend Zayn’s manners. Sometimes he can be so rude!” Louis jumped in before I could say anything, while extending his hand for Sydney to shake.

Sydney smiled at him shyly before introducing herself and shaking his hand. One by one the boys tried to win her over with cheeky grins and winks here and there, but even Niall’s big blue eyes couldn’t work on her.

A couple hours had gone by and lots of drinks had been passed around, conversations had came and gone, and Liam had begun to tell his usual drunken shitty jokes. Sydney wasn’t all that drunk and the smile on her face was pretty much permanent. She was laughing and carrying conversation easily, a pure delight. She fit in like an old childhood friend, someone who easily fit in conversation. Soon enough all the boys, including myself and Sydney finally had enough of the club in general and soon enough we made our way outside.

"BLOODY HELL! ZAYN!" Niall yelled before busting into his spare room that I had claimed as my own, waking me from my dream. "THE FUCK MAN. WHY IS SKY SAYING SHE’LL SEE ME TONIGHT? WHAT’D I DO?"

"You asked her out on a date you genius. You were plastered. Now let me sleep." I said burring my face into the white pillow and pulling the silk sheets over my head.

“Zayn! There’s no time to sleep! Get up!” he said while ripping the sheets off of me and opening the curtains wide. “Dude, you gotta come with me on this date! I can’t do it in my own!

I groaned while trying to avoid the sunlight that was breaking into the room. “Niall, having a third wheel will only will mess up your date. I’m not joining you.”

Niall sighed causing me to lift my head and squint at him. He was staring intently down at his hands. “Fiiiiiiine, I guess I can take one for the team.”

Niall perked up, and smiled. “Really?! Thank you so so so much Zayn! How about I ask Alex to join us so that you’re not all alone?” he smiled kindly at me and I tried to get the expression of discomfort from showing on my face. I must have done a terrible job because Niall’s smile twisted into a frown. “Too soon? I’m sorry, dumb idea…” he said while trying to avoid eye contact.

"No, no, Niall it’s alright! I’ll come! Alexa and I will just chill, I haven’t seen her in forever anyway!" I said forcing a smile.

Niall smiled bright and began to stand up while listing off everything to get ready for tonight. Apparently he had asked her to dinner and we were going to the only restaurant that Niall found worthy of a date: Nandos.
