When I was a kid, crying and blue
Feeling all alone with nothing to do,
You held me close and told me this
‘You are our little angel dear’
And you sealed it with a kiss.
I was your little princess,
A spoiled little brat
You gave me everything,
And then you listen to my wrath.
But you never gave up
And taught me how to act,
Like a fine young lady
And Dad, I am thankful for that.
You have taught me how to be brave
To fight for what I believe,
I am grateful for that
And for the love you gave.
And now that I am old enough
Standing on my own,
Every lesson is encrypted
In my mind and soul.
But my heart will forever be
A Daddy’s little girl,
In a pigtail with a tiara
In a tutu while I twirl.
