it is january fifth

there's a ringing in my ears

i wake up, bones stiff

cheeks sticky from late night tears.

it takes me a shower to remember

that the boy with amber eyes is waiting for me

throwing a random sundress from last december

driving my car and hastily taking the key.

the roads were smooth

i silently thanked god for that

the sun is still in its daytime youth

huffing a puff, i stand on the welcome mat.

the door opens with a ring

wafts of freshly made coffee invade my senses

my phone vibrates with a ding

i see you! , he texted and my heart in anxious pieces.
