EFFIE
chapter four

Brandon and I had just gotten dropped off about twenty minutes ago and had already explored the entire house together.

We had picked out our rooms. Brandon had given me the honors of having the master bedroom.

I was halfway through packing when I heard Brandon call my name and heard his loud footsteps coming towards my room.

He bursts into the room,"My mom's calling."

"And?" I query,"Are you going to answer it?"

"Of course. Just act like your doing something in the backround."

"Okay." I say and hurriedly begin to fold my clothes.

He accepts the facetime call and I hear him say hello.

"Hey, sweetheart. Have you landed?" I hear his mom's soft, morning voice say.

"Yes." He responds,"It was a very long flight though."

"Is that Effie in the back?" I hear her ask.

I clench my eyes closed when I hear Brandon reply, knowing that I would have to speak to his mother.

I feel Brandon come up behind me and wrap his arm around my shoulders and practically shove the phone into my face.

"This is Effie." Brandon grins,"The girl I've been talking about."

"Oh, Brandon, she's even more beautiful then you described." She smiles.

"I know, mom." He says then takes the phone off my face to remove the attention off of me.

I hear his mom protest,"I didn't get to talk to her, Brandon. Give her the phone."

He lets out a chuckle,"Mom, its almost ten o' clock here. She needs some rest."

"Okay." She grumbles,"But bring her home sometime, okay, B?"

I watch him smile at his mom and nod at her words,"Sure thing. I better go though, I love you."

I smile as I watch him speak to his mother.

He was a momma's boy. For sure.

And that was adorable to me.

I turned away from the curly-headed boy as the phone call ended.

Acting as if I wasn't admiring his broad shoulders or his toned biceps just a few moments ago.

"She likes you." Brandon tells me, plopping down on my bed.

"You think so?" I ponder, setting down a shirt I had just folded.

He nods his head,"Yep."

"That's a first." I mutter but he catches it.

"What? Have you never had any of your ex's parents like you?" He smiles a teasing smile.

"Well, there was only one ex." I sigh, sitting next to him.

"He was from a small town in Tennessee. I was a city girl. A combination that I guess wasn't meant to mix." I laugh,"His mom and dad completely were against the relationship."

He smiles and gets up,"Well, now you have a new boyfriend." He teases and moves a strand of hair out of my face,"A boyfriend whose parents like you."

"Thats reassuring, B." I laugh, using the nickname his mom used.

He grins and ruffles my hair,"Get some sleep, Effie."
