Later, they walked to the Guild Hall together. Happy had shown up halfway through breakfast and managed to eat a few pancakes before they left. Now he was flying around them, singing a little tune.
The sun is out and shining and it seems like it's going to be a nice day, thought Lucy, raising her face up to the sun and enjoying its warmth. She had woken up in a good mood and it was still with her - probably thanks to Natsu, she thought with a smile. Maybe she could learn to accept the fact that they would only be just friends. As it was, they were like a little family - she, Natsu, and Happy.
"Hey, Luce! What's going on at the Guild Hall?" asked Natsu, pointing ahead of them. Lucy looked and saw delivery men going in and out the door carrying different items. There were also some unfamiliar men hanging out around the outside of the hall.
"Oh no!" she said, her eyes widening. She looked at Natsu, a terrified look on her face. "You don't think that article Mira did...."
Natsu stopped and looked at her, then grabbed her hand and raced into one of the alleys before the men could spot her. "Let's go in the back way," he said, dragging her to the back of the hall.
"We have a back entrance?" Lucy questioned.
"Yeah, it's by the library, which is why no one ever uses it! I think they forget about it since only you and Levy ever use the library!" said Happy, keeping up with them.
"Now where is that block," muttered Natsu. "We used to use it when we played hide and seek as little kids." He started pushing on different blocks until one finally gave. He pulled it out and looked at Lucy and grinned.
She looked at the hole, then at him. "Um, Natsu? If you haven't noticed, we don't have the body of little kids! How am I supposed to fit in there?"
Natsu looked at the block, frowning. "Oh yeah," he said, nodding his head. "I hadn't thought of that. Like I said, no one's used it for awhile!"
He thought for a moment, then grinned again. "Hold on! I just thought of something!" He pulled and a few more blocks came loose. He turned to her, still grinning. "Elfman played too! He was a pretty big little kid!"
Lucy still looked hesitantly at the entrance, but shrugged. "I guess it's better than facing all the guys up front. I swear, I'm going to pay Mira back for all this!" she grumbled.
Natsu crawled in first, shooing away any cobwebs in his way. He disappeared, then his face peered out. "All clear!" he announced. He held out a hand to Lucy.
"Here goes!" she said, getting down on all fours and crawling through the hole. She had to flatten herself to the ground and promptly got stuck.
"Her boobs are too big!" Happy announced, studying the situation.
Lucy's cheeks pinked. Natsu grabbed her hand and pulled.
"Some help here, Happy?"
"Lucy, you better not fart!" Happy warned, pushing her from her backside.
With Natsu tugging and Happy pushing, she finally got unstuck and shot forward, falling into Natsu. They tumbled onto the basement floor, Lucy landing on top of him.
"Natsu, why does Lucy always fall for you?" teased Happy, walking through the hole, no problem.
Natsu and Happy put the blocks back while Lucy dusted herself off and looked at the small scratch marks on her chest.
"You okay?" asked Natsu and Lucy nodded.
"I'll make it," she replied. "As long as Mira doesn't have the men lined up and giving them numbers!" she grumbled.
Natsu grinned. "She's just looking out for ya! Don't give her too hard of a time."
"Yeah, don't forget when she's pissed, she turns into an actual demon!" reminded Happy, shivering.
They made their way up the stairs to the main hall.
"What the heck?" asked Natsu, looking around. Flowers were everywhere - covering every table, floor, and even some spare chairs. There were even flowers up on the balcony on the second floor!
"Lucy! Natsu!" Grey called, waving them over. "Glad you guys finally got here! It's been a madhouse!"
"Yeah," Elfman agreed, sneezing. His nose was red. "I don't know how much more of these flowers I can take!"
"Where are all these flowers from?" Lucy asked Grey, dreading the answer.
"Mira's little scheme to get you two hooked up has backfired, I think. These are all for you, Lucy, from your, ahem, admirers."
Lucy started to say something, then paused, thinking about what Grey said. "What do you mean Mira's scheme to get us 'hooked up'?"
"Aw, shit! I wasn't supposed to say anything! Don't tell Mira!" Grey pleaded.
