Phase 49
""And yet, ye of little faith, saunters to the path of self-destruction without even knowing it."

"I'm in."
"You are?" Lear stands up from his chair, surprised—expectant, judging by how his features pulled into a crooked joyous smile. Others join, sharing each other's opinion, relief, and cheers, exchanging praise and appreciation.
Unnecessary attention, of course. If 419 wasn't stupidly stubborn and narrow-minded in the first place, there's no need for such theatrics.
"And?" I say, impassive—unimpressed.
Every head in the room swivels to me.
"Please," I say, "just tell us what's the catch, we all see it coming."
Well, I see it coming.
"You wouldn't agree just like that," I carry on, "with how you acted so far, it takes no genius to tell that you wouldn't do anything unless there's something in it for you."
"Spill it."
"North, shut it," says Czar, "he already agreed to cooperate, there's no need—"
I ignore her and stay fixed to Rhine, waiting for his answer.
"Out with it," I warn, "now."
"Well, you're not stupid, are you?" he retorts, "yeah, I'm doing it for my own gains but hey, that's not your business, is it?"
"No, it's my entirely business if you fucked things up," I scowl, "again."
"If we decide to accomplish the task handed to us, we'll have to agree on some terms," I indicate.
"He's right, lovelies," implies Ace. "We can't have anyone going rogue now, do we? After all, it's Marshal Crinea's life is at stake here."
"And I assume you're talking about yourself?" I say, making a point to look at him, "you and your shady band of friends."
"Hey, I've explained—" starts Ace.
"I'm here because—" blurts out Lear.
Airy, on the other hand, just shrugs me off after a wide smirk.
"Yes, you've mentioned," I say, aggravated as I recall their introductions, "A-ranker A Class Corkeeper Ace Silvestre, that you are here on surveillance and monitor of 419. Corona to control EM waves and I still haven't thanked you for shutting off the surveillance drones back at the Edencor Entrance Hall."
Then I glance at Lear, "And you Lear C. Kapital."
"You've been trying to tell us how you are related to Marshal Crinea, oh wait, Aunt Eve, as you've put it, and why you've got all the right to be involved in this matter. Together with your friend here, Ea Regis, both of you have an unknown Rank, unknown Class, and unknown motives unless you exclude the fact how your coronas are powerful, nearly close to an S class. And of course, there's the fact that you seemed to have connections to wealthy regulars that a friend of yours just happen to have a Cor Matrix, only available to a Cor Head. Am I being vague enough? Because you two are!"
"As for Airy von Valentine," I glare at her, "an alleged B-ranker B Class Educator in Edencor and a supposed irregular, assuming that what you're trying to insinuate is true, you are one of us, judging by the infos and intel you possess, if it weren't for the fact that you seem hiding an awful lot more than you are willing to tell us. And you are here for what? To find us? Well, here we are, what now? Are you going to say you turn out to be an assassin sent to murder us?"
