In some war or disaster, history is wiped away, anything before the 20th century is wiped away.
Now, in the 31st century, where time travel has been perfected, the government hand picks the best of the population (spies, high stakes robbers, soldiers, athletes) for a task that requires intelligence and athleticism. Recruits are sent back in time to recollect information of the past.
Ideas:
1. Recruits cause historical events to begin to happen, or stop things from happening. Maybe Scotland will win it's independence? Or Kennedy was never assassinated? It's all out in the open.
2. Recruits fall in love or don't want to leave the time they've come to. Maybe they were born in the wrong generation?
3. Recruits create time paradoxes and have to put things back interesting place before [insert terrible event here]
