Ginny felt her heart crumble into a million pieces at these words. How could she have been so stupid? How could a man like Severus Snape love a stupid little girl like her?

Without a word Ginny ran from Dumbledore’s office, salty tears flying behind her as she went.

McGonagall gave Severus a cold look before hurrying after her hysterical student.

Ginny ran to the nearest bathroom in floods of tears. She ran into a cubicle and fumbled with the lock until she felt safe enough to just sit there and cry. But she didn’t have much time as moments later she heard the door crash open once again and McGonagall’s voice shouting,

“Ginny. I know you are in here.”

“Go away!” Ginny yelled through her tears.

“Ginny I just want to help. Severus Snape is an awful man and I just want you to know that none of this is your fault.” Ginny watched McGonagall’s feet walk by her door but then she stopped and Ginny saw her slide to the ground.

“Professor please just leave me be!” Ginny cried.

“I’m sorry but I can’t do that Ginny. You need someone to be there for you and I am going to be that someone.” She said kindly.

“Why do you care?”

“Because you are a wonderful and lovely young girl who deserves better than Severus Snape.”

At her words Ginny got up and quietly opened the door to see Professor McGonagall sitting against the wall.

“Do you really think that?” Ginny asked, wiping the tears from her eyes.

“Of course I do.” McGonagall said, standing up and putting her arms around Ginny once again. It was strange, she expected it to be more awkward than this but Ginny had the feeling this wasn’t the first time she had comforted a hysterical student.

Ginny was to glad to have Professor McGonagall teaching her potions now, she didn’t think she would be able to face Severus after the humiliation and heart break he had put her through.

But Ginny’s troubles were far from over because a few weeks after that terrible ordeal she realized she had missed something. Her period.
