Ever wondered why our emotions are so crazy? That's because around points in your cycle your hormones change.
Around ovulation oestrogen spikes up, causing some cravings, soft bones, flexibilty and for some people increased sexual activity. This is because your body is preparing to release an egg and wants you to fertilize it.
Around your period however, testosterone levels spike. Giving you irritability, cravings, mood swings, thicker/darker body hair and more sweat, which is why you get more acne.
The reason why you get cramps on and around your period is because your body goes through a mini labor. Small contractions push the lining of the uterus out and your hips and lower back ache because your hips widen to allow the blood to flow out.

So there you go. Hormones and mini labor.
