What strangers are we?

Who once walked together,

Now walk apart.

The absence is daunting.

It creeps through the night,

Assuredly stalking.

There is a shadow lurking.

Awaiting its prey in the dark,

Fearing nothing.

Separate we walk now.

Sometimes I fear what will come,

Because it's silent.

The silence brings the pain.

The words at least saved me,

From nothingness.

No matter how harsh be they.

They allowed my escape,

From you.
