A/N: I hope you enjoy. Set in the Grisha Universe. No spoilers.

"Your behavior is extremely unacceptable." A professor said, as he looked at me over his clipboard.

I don't regret a thing of what I did to Ashley. She deserved all of it. All of it. Apparently, some people don't agree.

My thoughts must have been written all over my face as the professor said, "Ms. Harrison could have died if a teacher didn't get involved in time."

"So?" I blurted. That jerk deserved to die.

I instantly regretted that thought while the monster inside of me was disappointed for the wrong reasons, indeed.

The professor ignores me and continues on, "Because of your behavior, you will face your punishment with the Darkling. You will meet him tomorrow at 3:00pm."

The fear that I never felt during the time where I was heavily scolded by the other professors before this, started trickling through my gut.

The professor leaves and Ashley stirs in the bed beside me. I take in the bottles of medication given to her, during her time here.

Ashley's eyes open and look around hazily and unfocused. Her eyes land on mine and we stare into each other's eyes for a few moments.

Ashley shakes her head and grimaces at the pain. She backs away from me and orders one of the servants stationed outside our curtain to move her to a different spot.

Her voice and expression is always fearful, her eyes darting between the servant and me.

The monster inside me takes in the sight, slowly becoming greedier and greedier for more.

I watch as Ashley shakily leaves the room.

The monster watches the bandages becoming blood-stained as the blood trickles out the wound.

I hear the servant hurrying her away, and the servant herself is eager to get away from me after what I've done.

The monster hears the frightened whispers of the surrounding servants about me and Ashley.

I smell the humid air. The Tidemakers must have conjured up some water for Ashley and helped the Healers in some way.

The monster smells the coppery air, tangled with blood. It opens its mouth and sticks its tongue out, hoping to taste some the blood in the air.

I fade from the world. The familiar buzzing fills my ears. I let myself embrace the monster inside me. I let go.

I see my life flashing before my eyes. My earliest memories to now. I close my eyes and lose myself into the darkness that comes after.

The monster embraces its victim.

The monster opens its eyes for the first time.

The monster gets used to its new habitat. Its new home.

The monster is free.
