Similar to the Greek God Pan, Faunus bestowed fruitfulness for the fields and flocks. Faunus ruled over nature and the wild land. People often believed that the sounds of the forests was just Faunus' voice. Faunus was the primary woodland deity, causing people to believe that he was talking through the forest sounds. He had 2 festivals for him each year, filled with partying and merriment. Faunus was often depicted as a half goat, half man, similar to the greek Satyr. He was also considered the grandson of Saturn, who was the Roman/Italian version of Greece's Kronos.
