Taylor walked into the lounge and saw me watching a movie called "happy death day"
"what's the plot?" she ask him.
"she gets murdered on her birthday and the day repeats till she finds out who the killer is." i said. she nods and a though hit me, causing me to pauses it.
"whens your birthday?" he asked. i shrug.
"i dunno, some time in April." she said casually. my eyes bulge.
"that's this month Tesoro!" i exclaimed.
"so? you guys are probably always celebrating birthdays, mine doesn't really need to be added." she shrug again, getting up and walking into the kitchen. once she was gone i shot outta my seat like a bullet and sent out a text that said, "meeting, now!"
we got there and i explained the birthday situation.
"i don't even think she's ever had a birthday! we just gotta throw her one!" i exclaim sounding like a mother hen.
"calm Edvige. we'll give her a birthday, tomorrow though, these things need to be prepared." Grandfather chuckled at just how dramatic i was being over this. the word presents wasn't even mentioned as i was thinking just cake and take her to the amusement park or something, but suddenly everyone was getting into their cars to go to various stores to get her something.
i go upstairs and knock on her door she was there doodling.
"hey, we're all kinda going into town for a bit, do you need anything?" i ask.
"nope can't think of anything. want me to come with?" she asked.
"there's already so many people to manage. trust me you don't wanna see the guys shopping." i chuckle. it's not the full truth but everyone is the same, goes in for one thing, comes out with twelve and a pimp cane, always a cane of some sort.
"okay have fun." she says.
"Grandfather will be here though, you should go for a walk with him or something, i think he'd like that." i suggest.
"i will!" she smiles. i smile back before getting into the car and driving to the local bakery.
"hey this is a tall order, but i need a cake to feed thirty people by tomorrow evening," i said.
"i-im sorry sir but we can't do that." the woman says.
"i'll pay triple the cost, all i need is for it to be chocolate with the words "happy Birthday Taylor" on it. please? it's really important." i plead.
"okay, i'll see what we can do. triple the cost you said?" she asks. i nod, not really caring about the money and place the order before going to an art supply store.
i got her four large canvases and si medium ones as well as a large set of nice oil paints and an easel before getting it wrapped and into my car. we hid all the presents in the attic, which kinda took up all of it.
i thought of one more thing and texted her friend Selena.
"hey, this is Taylors dad, Edvige we're throwing her a birthday party and if you would like to attend your more then welcome too." i texed.
"sure! whats the address?" she texted back.
i thought for a minute about giving out our address but sent it anyways, knowing that from what Taylor describes she knows nothing about the crime scene in this city and we'll bring our wives and kids with us so we look like a normal family. a lot of these guys actually have families and just come here for work during the day, but the ones who are immediate family of Grandfather, like me and Carlos and Castro, and a few others we stay here.
i hope Tay likes the party
"one more thing, our family is very large so expect a lot of people, and don't tell her, it's a surprise." i text before putting my phone away and saw it was time for dinner. we'll have to find out her favorite food for tomorrow.
