Soooo my faithful readers who have stuck by me for the past... 4 years? Has it been that long already? Lots and lots will be revealed in this chapter. Where the hell is Adeline and who is Caspian really?
I hope everyone will be satisfied with this explanation as the story is far from over bit I am definitely glad we're reaching the end of the series. I honestly don't know whether I will write the seventh book this year... I've grown a lot and it's been many years of me working on this story. I hope I'll eventually finish at least the sixth book in reasonable time... But I don't make any promises.
So enjoy these new chapters for now!
Love Pip!
Dumbledore did not say anything for a very long time. Then he simply asked, "Orion?"
"What does it matter?" Said Aurora, sharply. "Where's my mother, grandpa?"
Dumbledore sighed. "You were not the first person Orion brought back from the death," he said heavily, "Heirs cannot die from any magical interference. Even though it wasn't the Killing Curse that defeated your mother, it was a spell nonetheless. She used Lily Potter's sacrifice to save Harry, weakened her own body because of it so when Voldemort tried to kill Harry and the blast seperated him from his body...well, the same happened to Adeline."
Dumbledore got up from his seat and started pacing the office. "After I had made the appropriate arrangements for Harry, I took you with me. I did not know what to do but I did know Orion would be far more willing to help me with you in the room. I found him that same night and begged him to bring Adeline back from the death.
"Orion laughed in my face. He was furious...he couldn't believe I dared to ask him that, so shortly after he lost the last family he had. He was probably the only person in the world that was truly saddened by Voldemort's demise. His yelling made you cry. You never cried like that. It was the kind of cry that went through bone. Orion immediately quieted down. After a few seconds, he agreed to help me. But, so he said, even though it would be better to have you as part of the spell, he would not perform any spell with you in the room. So I brought you to Remus, and when I came back Orion had called some of his students to him.
"I don't suppose you ever saw Orion in his full Lord Cyneric glory but...even I felt fear that night. He was, and still is, the most powerful wizard I ever had the pleasure to meet.
"Even though he was familiar with the kind of magic he had to perform, he had never tried it before. Simply because he never had someone that he could actually bring back from the death to try it on...it nearly killed him and he wasn't able to do it as well as he did it with you. Back then, Tatiana, Katarina's mother and Adeline's sister, had another daughter. Anastasia. It was Anastasia that inherited Adeline's Magic, instead of you, who were far too powerful already to hold any more."
"I've met Anastasia, haven't I?" Said Aurora, remembering the redhaired woman she had met at Caspian's magic school. "Or, I saw her at least."
"You did," nodded Dumbledore, "Anastasia lived with Orion at his school until very recently. He has always been keeping an eye on her since that night."
"More like sleeping with her," muttered Aurora.
Dumbledore ignored her. "Just like Katarina, Anastasia had no idea what was happening to her. She was suffering from memory loss and quickly fell deeply in love with Caspian. By the time autumn was ending, Anastasia had weakened greatly, barely able to stand anymore. It was on Orion's birthday, on the 25th of December, that he eventually performed the spell.
"It didn't fail, exactly, but it didn't really work either. Instead of Adeline's soul being returned to her own body, it was placed with Anastasia's in hers. Anastasia is not aware of any of this. She doesn't remember the spell, nor does she remember any of the times when Adeline's soul managed to take over and use her body for a certain task. She is unaware that she is, in fact, a princess of anything, or that she has a still-living family. We kept it that way because the moment that she becomes more aware of herself, she will slowly push away Adeline's soul until she disappears completely.
