He had the whole empire in his hands. Everything at the snap of a finger if he wanted to, yet he still felt empty inside.
"Was this what he was really destined for?" A question that haunted his thoughts continuously.

A gentle breeze drifted through the slightly opened door of the balcony. Taking a break was really tempting after six hours of reviewing the files forwarded by his employees. He rose up from his chair, taking his cup of coffee in his hand and walked towards the sliding doors. A small smile graced his features as he stepped outside, grateful that the rains have finally stopped. He ran his fingers through his dark hair, taking in the view of the city below. Even though he had shifted to this branch a year ago, he still found pleasure in just observing the scenery, the people. Simple things like this made him happy.
The dark clouds shifted bathing him in the warm sunlight. He silently wished that he could spend another hour just relaxing and enjoying the view but he had important business to attend to and which he had to deal with immediately if he wanted perfect results. Taking another sip out of his mug, he turned and went back to his wide mahogony desk, files covering every inch of the table with his laptop in the centre. Without wasting another second, he dived back into his work, bent on getting it done by the end of the day.
Not even a moment later, a sharp knock on the door reverberated throughout the large room. His eyes glanced once towards the office door before he looked down at his laptop again and resumed his work. Whatever it was, it could surely wait. Everyone knew he hated to be interrupted nor did he let anyone in unless it was absolutely important.
But he hardly had the time to react when the door suddenly burst open with a very flustered looking Minhyuk at the entrance.
"What in the-"
"I'm really really sorry Sir!" Minhyuk interjected his question. "We tried reaching you but couldn't get through! We needed to inform you urgently that ...." He took in a deep breath, resting his hands on the edge of the desk as he calmed himself down.
"Well?" He asked, raising his eyebrow at him.
"The King! The King is on his way!" He blurted out.
He looked back him in surprise. The King? He hadn't seen him in a year. And what was he doing here ? He didn't expect to be seeing him so soon. Is the whole royal family here as well?
"Sir?"
He snapped out of his thoughts, casting aside the numerous question swirling in his head. "Tell everyone to assemble downstairs to receive them and alert the security as well to stand guard at every entrance to the building."
"Done sir." He replied, giving him a wide grin.
"There's a reason why you're the best assistant anyone could ask for." He smiled as he got up to straighten his tie. Minhyuk bowed slightly and took his coat off the stand in the corner as Jinyoung stood in front of him and slid his arms into the sleeves of the expensive fabric.
"Well then. Let's go wait downstairs to greet them shall we?"

Author's note: First of all, I would like to apologise. I know I have been gone for quite a while now and haven't had the time to write anything in so long. It was partly due to work being so hectic and the other half was because I sort of gave up on writing. I lost all my inspiration to write and thought that I would take a break for a long period.
And for those who didn't know, my account was deleted for a while and it broke my heart. Because even if I am only an amateur but the stories I've written so far meant a lot to me and so did the friends I've met here. But thankfully it was restored a few weeks ago and I was extremely glad. I promised I would start writing again as a small celebration? 😅
I thought I would complete my other book first, 'Conflict' but since it takes a bit longer to write each chapter, I decided to start another one. And this specific one, I want to dedicate it to my family here ❤️ who have always continuously supported me even if I lost confidence.. even when I was down.. whenever I needed a dose of happiness.. I can never thank you enough. So this is for all of you❤️
