Just wanted to share a few stories I heard during my lifetime. Some are made up by me, some a few stories my classmates and IRL friends told me, and some are legends from the Philippines. Hope you enjoy!
There was a girl who had a boyfriend. One day, when it was the girl's birthday, her boyfriend gave her a book as a birthday present. The girl didn't like it, though; preferring a bracelet. She got angry with him and threw the book to the ground. A few days later they broke up.
Several months later the boy was killed in action while he was fighting a war. The girl knew about it, because a telegram was sent to her.
When it was the girl's birthday, she was fooling around with her car's dashboard, when she opened the glove compartment and saw the same book there. When she was flipping through the pages, she saw that is was filled with pictures of them and messages that were sent to each other. She got to last page, and it read: Go to our secret place. Your birthday present is there.
When she got to their secret place which was an oak tree, she saw her birthday present in the hole of the tree. It was a diamond bracelet and a note. When the girl unfolded the note, it said "Happy birthday. Will you marry me?"
